The Prisoner of Askaban

1. The author of my book is J.K. Rowling. She has written 10 books including the Harry Potter series. Some other information about J.K. Rowling is that she was born in Yate, Gloucestershire, England, UK in 1965.


2. My book is "The Prisoner of Askaban" from the Harry Potter series. In the start of the novel Harry Potter, who is a young wizard in training, is stuck living with his awful family, the Dursleys. While living in hell, the Dursleys have a vistitor, the evil large Aunt Marge. Marge's visit ends with her being blown up like a balloon by Harry, and Harry running away. Now Harry is on his own lost in the Muggle (non-wizard) world. While sitting on a park bench, Harry sees an evil creature in the dark. The young wizard is soon picked up by a wizard bus that takes him to a wizard bar/hotel The Leaky Cauldron. Harry soon hears that a killer is on the loose, who is apparently out to kill him. Now, Harry is headed back to Hogwarts (the wizard school) unsure if he will be lucky to not be found by the killer.

3. "The Prisoner of Askaban" is set in England, and from what I have read mostly in London. The story is somewhat set in Muggle London, but mostly set in Wizard London. The main places so far in Wizard London are Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron. The book is set in present time, but maybe the late 90's because thats when the book was written. I know this because all the books from the Harry Potter series include modern technologies, not candles and horses. The atmosphere in the story has some drastic changes from depressing to scary. But the beginning of the story is a pretty depressing setting because it shows how bad of a life Harry has. Living with his awful Aunt and Uncle, who treat him like dirt. Then it gets worse when Aunt Marge arrives, because she just constantly insults Harry. After Harry blows Aunt Marge up like a balloon, the atmosphere changes to creepy. When Harry sees some evil dog thing in the dark. The atmosphere also becomes frightening, when Harry is told that a killer is on the loose after him.

4. In the story "The Prisoner of Askaban", our protagonist (Harry) demonstrates two main character traits. Harry shows bravery, and that he isn't gonna be pushed around. He shows that he is brave when he is told there is a man out to kill him. If I was in Harry's position I would have been extremely scared, but Harry isn't. He is also brave because he went out late at night alone in the Muggle world. Now most wizards woudn't try this because it is very dangerous for wizards to be alone in the Muggle world, especially with a killer on the loose. Harry also shows that he isn't going to be pushed around. He does this because Aunt Marge is insulting him and his deceased parents, and he has had enough so he blows her up into a balloon. Right then he showed her he wasn't one to mess with.

5. I would rate this book a 9 out of 10. I really enjoy this book because it has interesting story that immediately grabs your attention. It also has very well developed characters which is an immediate attraction. You can relate to Harry. He has had a bad life but is a good person. That's a great way to be. The only reason I gave this book a 9 not a 10 is that I am a music biography person. Biographies on Slash, KISS, Metallica, and Jimi Hendrix is what I enjoy, I don't really prefer narratives.
